Can you Help?

We need your help getting your hands dirty for a few days, or you can donate money today by lending a helping hand to this initiative. Can you help our Network Garden feed Kenyan families in need?

In order to improve the standard of living for people in Kenya's rural and urban areas, Community Hands Against Poverty is implementing poverty elevation project that involves building backyard kitchen gardens and recovering the degraded lands for small holder farmers. This will enable them to begin growing some of their own fruits, vegetables, other neglected food crops and shrubs while experimenting with new technologies such as the use of cover crops for their food security, health, and economic wellness needs thereby restoring the freshness, flavor, and wholeness of home-grown organic crops for food.

Community Hands Against Poverty is collaborating with partner farmers in Western Kenya's Igunga community to establish the first backyard kitchen garden network to benefit food-insecure Igunga residents as well as their neighbours who may feed from them, such as other needy residents and individual families who are unable to grow food or vegetables on their own due to long-term illness, droughts, among other issues. This allows some of them to visit a nearby garden and sociolise and grow together. Not only will this be possible with the help of volunteers and many other kindhearted individuals like you, but your support will also allow us to provide needed assistance, such as assisting farmers in improving their productivity by reviving degraded farms in Kenya, providing needed skills through farmer field days, workshops and assisting in learning about new technologies such as cover crops from our partner, experts agronomist.

Additionally your help will support CHAP host  annual harvest festivals for growers, as well as involve the youths in distributing supplies from the gardens to needy homes across Kenya for their emergency food support during disasters.

Chap feels overwhelmed by requests for help because of higher economic pressure and food shortages. We also need a van/vehicles, land to farm, and additional office equipment. If you are blessed or a generous person, you may help us on this necessity so we can serve our communities better.

Why Back yard Kitchen Garden?

The Chap Kitchen Garden Network's initiatives and other poverty alleviation programs or events aim to improve national and community food security while also providing other opportunities to disadvantaged groups, partnering farmers and citizens of all ages. The backyard gardens will be raised and owned by our partner farmers and identified  beneficiaries who will become our network gardens, and will be supported by our poverty alleviation initiatives in obtaining the resources they require with the help of other partners as the chap donor networks that help them thrive and sustain our initiatives reach those who may need it most .
